Ez Amädi – ‘Dali’

Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, otherwise known as Salvador Dali best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work.  Dalí’s expansive artistic repertoire included film, sculpture, and photography, in collaboration with a range of artists in a variety of media.

Dalí once claimed to have a  “love of everything that is gilded and excessive”. It is with this mind we make light of Ez Amädi, of the Hip-hop collective Black S?l, and his new song titled ‘Dali’.

Excessiveness is in abundance throughout the track – from the beat with often awkward samples from a myriad of sources and musical stylings, to the cliche braggadocio of girls, drugs, and microphone prowess. However, although an obvious metaphor for Ez Amädi’s way of seeing himself and his position within the Black S?l collective as the ‘Dali of the group’, the track itself – unlike Salvador Dali to Surrealism – fails to really offer anything new to the vast offerings already available in Hip-hop.
