Formerly the Acapulco Black Film Festival; the American Black Film Festival has been successful and consistently growing in popularity for over 17 years.  The ABFF’s objectives are simple: Education, Artistic Expression, Collaboration, Access and Recognition; Jeff Friday and his team always deliver as promise.  This year’s festivities are June 19-23 in Miami, FL.

While HBO has been a major supporter and sponsor since 1998; they are joined by a slew of corporate sponsors including: Cadillac, American Airlines, Marriott, NBC Universal, Nickelodeon and more.  A few notable films screened at the ABFF in previous years are: Takers and Stomp the Yard 2.  This year Black Hollywood is chattering over “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete” a film from produced by George Tilman; also producer of “Notorious” the biopic about the late great rapper.  The movie is a coming of age story about two inner city youths, who are left to fend for themselves over the summer after their mothers are taken by the authorities.  Hmmmmmm, sounds interesting and if that’s too real for you then you’ll love the closing night film/world premiere of Kevin Harts: Let Me Explain.  The screenings, world premieres, celebrity conversation panels, talent competitions and master classes complete the American Black Film Festival; this makes it successful and even more appealing each year.  To check out more about ABFF log onto www.ABFF.com
